What Makes Greenfields Unique?

Greenfields is an international Day and Boarding School, non-selective and non-denominational, for boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 18. We welcome students to the school, in its beautiful location in Forest Row, Sussex, at any time of the year. 

At Greenfields we recognise that every child is an individual. Every child has their own strengths, weaknesses, passions and goals. We take pride in providing children with an environment in which they can learn and thrive during the most important years of their lives. School should be a place where one is encouraged, helped and inspired, at Greenfields we are achieving this on a daily basis.

Our emphasis is to develop skills within each student where they have the ability to think with and use knowledge as opposed to just ‘remembering it’. At Greenfields the students learn the value of studying and thinking for oneself so that they can learn anything that they want and then apply what they have learnt.

At Greenfields we teach every student how to learn. This is a simple, yet vital step missing in education today. We call this ‘Study Technology’.

This is what makes Greenfields so unique. It emphasises learning knowledge and skills to actually apply them for a useful end, rather than simply learning to pass an examination or learning without any real purpose for doing so.

Study Technology directly addresses those factors that often block a student from succeeding in what he or she is trying to study – these barriers can cause a student to be confused, not want to study a subject anymore, feel tired etc. The students learn the three ways to resolve these unwanted barriers by learning how to use a dictionary to define any words that they do not understand, ensuring that they combine theory with practical, and by making sure that they are studying in the correct sequence and not jumping on to higher levels of the subject when they have not done the steps in between.

We ensure that class sizes are small so that every child receives the attention that they deserve, on average, there is 1 teacher to 15 children. This means that we can deliver the International Cambridge Curriculum along with the study tools that students need in order to be happy and successful in their studies and later, their careers.

The creative arts lie at the core of Greenfields – we have a particular focus on encouraging students to demonstrate strong creative skills in writing, art, drama, dance, music, photography and film studies.

It is possible to have academic accomplishment side by side with artistic endeavour. At Greenfields the children are given many opportunities to expand their artistic knowledge and skills. Many of our students go on to pursue careers in the creative arts.
